SASE-associated schools/institutions are authorized to offer the NWAC-accredited curricula and the resulting qualification of American High School Diploma to their students in India. Based on agreements reached by its authorized education agencies/authorities/boards, the Central Government of India through the Ministry of Human Resource Development recognizes these foreign qualifications as acceptable for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government.
The Central government of India also further acknowledged the American High School Diploma awarded by the Northwest Accreditation Commission, USA, as equivalent to the 12th/ Senior Secondary of CBSE, Delhi or any other State Board in India. These agreements and announcements are contained in the government gazettes; No. (1): EV/II (21)/2014/ (of April 04, 2014) and Gazette (Notification (45) No.F.15-17/94-TS.IV(.) (Of 13th March 1995).
Furthermore, the government stated that students completing NWAC American High School Diploma are ELIGIBLE to apply for undergraduate admissions in universities/colleges in India and globally. It specifically noted that the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has recognized Grade X of NWAC American High School Diploma Program as an ELIGIBLE qualification for admission to Grade 11 of CBSE affiliated schools in India. Finally, the National Institute of Open Schooling, NIOS also formally recognized Grade X of NWAC American High School Diploma Program as an ELIGIBLE qualification for pursuing open schooling at the Senior Secondary level through the NIOS.
