National Institute of Open School

National Insitute of Open School (NIOS) was started as a project of the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE). Today it is an independent system with its own assessments, certifications and curriculum.

NIOS has a cumulative enrollment of 1.5 million students from 2004-2009 at secondary and senior secondary levels and enrols about 350,000 students annually, which makes it the largest open schooling system in the world.

At present, CBSE and NIOS have both recognised NWAC American High School Diploma Program as an eligible qualification rendering seamless progression of students into CBSE and NIOS affiliated schools in India and abroad.

NIOS completely supports the aim of SASE-NWAC to deploy affordable school education and the state-of-the-art credit-recovery solution, which will enhance the employability skills of the students, while providing them with a combination of curriculum rich in subject-matter expertise, skill-enhancement and development of citizenship.

With NIOS, SASE will help out students, those wishing to choose distance education or go for professional courses instead of intensive academic programs.
